I was browsing through the net during the holidays and found this interesting game develop to discourage youth from smoking in New Zealand. The name of the game is called Kiss Off.

Avoid Kissing the Smoker

Basically it’s a simple game where you need to avoid the grouchy and smelly smokers to reach your goal. What goal? The hot chick or hot hunk la of course. Then you will go through a game where you can practice your kissing skills using a mouse (lame but fun). What’s interesting about this is, it have unique names for different kind of kisses.

Have you heard of kisses like Lip Locker, Tongue Tango and Double Dipper? Ha ha I sure haven’t heard of this even from my many years of experience. After trying out “the kiss”, you will get a score where you can share and compare with your friends.
From a digital marketing point of view, it builds upon several right steps.

1. Simplicity. It offers a simple game to drive the message
2. Promote sharing. Allows to compare score with friends and share on Facebook
3. Commonality. It is based on an activity where people want to be good at. (I want to be a good kisser, don’t you?)

It builds great awareness but I have doubts about the effectiveness of it actually stopping people to smoke. Remember the “Tak Nak” program in Malaysia? People might just laugh, share among friends but will it prompt them to stop smoking? I’m not so sure about that.

But I really like the site, despite my skepticism I think the site is very well designed and provide a lot of information.
